CPA Day of Service and Second Helpings

mAccounting participated in the 14th Annual Indiana CPA Society’s Day of Giving.  Since staff member Marie Powell is the board chair at Second Helpings, we spent the afternoon cleaning, organizing, and moving furniture in preparation for painting the building interior. Marie is a strong task master so its easy to see why she was appointed board chair. Some of us are more handy than others, but the rest of us follow directions pretty well.

United Christmas Service

This is an annual tradition at mAccounting and it just keeps getting better.  Christmas brings out the best in all of us and while this endeavor is strictly on a volunteer basis, we have 100% staff participation. Our staff raises over $800 and the company also provides a donation.  After getting a wish list from UCSF and talking to the head of the household, we divide into teams with each group shopping for a family member.  There is nothing like a group of accountants scouring for deals, coupons, and on-line offers in order to max out our gift list.  Undoubtedly we go over budget and the shoppers kick in a little extra cash after finding gifts that we can’t live without giving. Another group of volunteers spend a lunch hour wrapping and labelling each individual gift. Finally, our delivery volunteers  grocery shop and deliver all of the food and gifts to our family just before Christmas. The delivery always culminates with lots of hugs between our adopted family and the mAccounting staff.

Million Meal Marathon

The mission of our nonprofit clients is important to everyone at mAccounting, so we’re always happy to volunteer. The Million Meal Movement puts on the Million Meal Marathon each fall and mAccounting sponsors the event. Our staff dons hairnets and packs pounds of meals to feed hungry people in Central Indiana. We’re competitive by nature, so we strive to out-pack the other teams…even if we make a little mess in the process.
