Staff Spotlight: Elizabeth Auld

August 19, 2019

Elizabeth is a staff accountant at mAccounting. We hope this Q&A will help you get to know her and why she is such a pivotal member of our team.

What does a staff accountant do? I handle much of the general bookkeeping for my clients including, but not limed too, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, reconciling accounts, and journal entries.  I work closely with the controllers and clients regarding requests and maintaining their general ledger.

What’s your favorite part about being a staff accountant? I really enjoy getting to work with a variety of clients in different industries, as well as working with different team members, both internally and externally.

What drew you to mAccounting? mAccounting has a great culture and work environment.  Everyone is very helpful and friendly, despite their busy schedules.  They promote learning and career advancement, and feedback is always welcome.

How did you get into accounting?  I had the opportunity to work for a company in their Accounts Payable department, starting out with processing employee travel and reimbursements.  My responsibilities and role progressed with time, and I realized I enjoyed the field and wanted to make it my career.

If you have 30 spare minutes, how would you spend them?  I would probably take that time to read or spend time with my family.

What’s your favorite book ? I have been a big Stephen King fan most of my life.  However, a book that recently comes to mind, is “Night” by Elie Wiesel.  It’s a quick read, and it’s about his experience in the Nazi concentration camps.

Likes: Traveling, Spending time with my Husband and Daughter, and Comedy Shows

Dislikes: Country Music, Being Hot when I’m Sleeping, and Crowded Places

Favorite travel spot: This is a tough one, but I would probably choose Japan.  I have been twice, and plan to go again in the next couple of years.  My maternal grandmother was from Japan, and I still have family members in the area.  The people are very friendly, and the landscape and culture are beautiful.
